Looking for a scary movie? Horror film Exit 33 Terrifies Audiences!
Exit 33 harkens back to the great scary movies of the 1970s and 1980s. Who didn’t love the suspense and gore filled Halloween, Friday the 13th, The Hills Have Eyes, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Nightmare on Elm Street? The originals were great, the remakes and franchises were great, and Exit 33 promises to be 2010’s best horror movie.
To keep it real the entire film was shot in a desolate camp in rural Northern Michigan, not too far from Traverse City, and it stars legendary horror actor Kane Hodder, who terrified us in many scary films as the disturbed killer Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th parts VII-X, Leatherface in Texas Chain Saw Massacre III, deformed killer Victor Crowley in Hatchet, and serial killer Dennis Rader in BTK. Now Hodder is back as Ike, the serial killer taxidermist who owns a gas station just off the desolate Exit 33, the latest of the great independent scary movies.
Exit 33 premiered recently at the Emagine Theater in Novi, Michigan on March 11, 2010. Michigan businessman Norman Koza was inspired to write his first movie by his lonely commutes to and from his Northern Michigan workplace near Traverse City. One night Koza was driving down a long, narrow and dark road in Traverse City and needed to refuel. When he pulled off the highway he was immediately overcome with an eerie feeling. "I had this feeling that if my car broke down, I would be in trouble. I went home later that day and started to write a movie about a man whose car breaks down in a remote area. It is a scary scene and I knew this had to be a horror film."
Like the best scary films, Exit 33 elicits an extreme emotional response from viewers. You can sense the evil and feel the disturbing terror just watching the preview. When we watch great scary films we can feel excitement along with the chills, fear, and terror as we watch in morbid fascination as other people go through situations that terrify us.
Exit 33 follows four friends on their way to a high school reunion who all decide to take the same rarely used highway that leads to Ike’s Last Chance Gas at Exit 33. What awaits them is indescribable evil and terror as Hodder’s Ike displays his monumental taxidermy skills. One of the first independent scary movies released in 2010, Exit 33 is one of the best horror movies to come out in the past few years.
Fans of scary slasher films will appreciate this low budget glimpse into the evil tortured mind of Ike. Says producer Todd Brunswick, "Kane Hodder delivers an outstanding performance, taking us deep into his character's horrific landscape.” Scary movie fans rejoice!
Meet the scary star of the Exit 33 horror movie, Kane Hodder, at this year's Motor City Nightmare's Horror Movie Convention April 23-25, 2010.
