Michigan businessman Norman Koza was inspired to write Exit 33, his first movie, by his lonely commutes to and from his Northern Michigan workplace near Traverse City. One night Koza “had this feeling that if my car broke down, I would be in trouble. I went home later that day and started to write a movie about a man whose car breaks down in a remote area. It is a scary scene and I knew this had to be a horror film."
The trailer for Exit 33 is one of the most disturbing new horror movie trailers being shown. Exit 33 stars legendary horror actor Kane Hodder, who has terrified us for decades in horror movies as the disturbed killer Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th parts VII-X, Leatherface in Texas Chain Saw Massacre III, deformed killer Victor Crowley in Hatchet, and serial killer Dennis Rader in BTK. Now Hodder, the only actor to play Jason more than once in the Friday the 13th franchise, is back as Ike, a serial killer taxidermist who owns a gas station just off the desolate highway at Exit 33.
Exit 33, the latest of the great independent scary movies, harkens back to the great horror films of the 1970s and 1980s. Who didn’t love the suspense and gore filled Halloween, Friday the 13th, The Hills Have Eyes, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Nightmare on Elm Street? The originals were great, the remakes and franchises were great, and Exit 33 promises to be 2010’s best horror movie as you can see from the new horror movie trailers.
While many new horror movie trailers do not give you a true feel for the film, you can sense the evil and feel the disturbing terror mounting just watching the Exit 33 trailer. Kane Hodder as Ike is creepy in the deep way that his Jason was in the four Friday the 13th movies, but without the mask.
Exit 33 follows four friends on their way to a high school reunion who all decide to take the same rarely used highway that leads to Ike’s Last Chance Gas at Exit 33. What awaits them, as you can get sense of just watching the new Exit 33 horror movie trailers, is indescribable evil and terror at the hands of serial killer Ike.
